This week's batch of new releases on dvd includes Nine, a musical with some of Hollywood's biggest actresses singing and dancing, The Tooth Fairy, a family comedy with The Rock dressed in a tutu, and Leap Year, a globe-trotting romantic comedy with Amy Adams.
In the musical Nine, which finally lands on dvd this week after opening in theaters on Christmas, an all-star cast of Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench and Sophia Loren join forces in this take on Frederico Fellini's 1963 masterpiece 8 1/2.
Also out this week, for anyone who's ever wanted to see Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in a tutu, is The Tooth Fairy. The former professional wrestler stars as a hockey player with the nickname "The Tooth Fairy." But after dissing a young fan, he's sentenced to a week of duty as the actual mythical creature.
For those in need of a healthy dose of rom-com, check out Amy Adams's latest film, Leap Year. Adams stars as a woman desperate for marriage. But, of course, the man she wants won't propose. So instead she decides to take advantage of an Irish custom that allows women to propose on February 29th, and she enlists the help of a dashing youg Irishman (Matthew Goode) to help her.
Movie lovers looking to rewatch classics should check out the newly released restored edition of Doctor Zhivago, as well as Saving Private Ryan and The Notebook which are now on Blu-Ray.
