Malaysians Must Value Culture And Art Of Other Races - Rais

PETALING JAYA, May 30 (Bernama) -- Information Communication and culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim wants Malaysians to start appreciating the art and culture of other races.

He said the time has come for people with creativity to venture deeply into the art and culture sector in the concept of 1Malaysia.

"I would like to see the unification of various people from various races into one entity," he told reporters after attending the "Soorya India" festival here Saturday.

He added that he welcomed the efforts by the organiser of the "Soorya India" festival to proliferate and enrich the Indian art and culture to the locals.

"Their efforts indeed help enrich the local art scene and components within our multiracial society," he said.

The "Soorya India" festival, organised by Sopaanam Arts to collect funds for the Tun Hussien Onn Eye Hospital, featured 25 performers from India who presented various musical, songs and dances.
