Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza wish Shahid Afridi luck for World T20 Championship

LAHORE: Newly married star sports couple Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik met Pakistan T20 skipper Shahid Malik here at the National Cricket Academy and wished him luck for the upcoming ICC World T20 Championship, which would be played in the West Indies from April 30 to May 16.
Talking to Geo News, Afridi said the couple wished him for success in the tournament and expressed the hope that Pakistan would retain the T20 title.
“I congratulated Shoaib-Sania on getting married and wished them a happy life in future,” Afridi said.
Afridi said that during the brief meeting Shoaib told him that he was eagerly waiting for a comeback in the national squad.
Later, the newly married cross border couple had a harrowing time at the five-star hotel they are staying in Lahore, as they had to wade through hundreds of fans and ‘unruly’ enthusiasts who gathered outside the hotel.
The rowdy behaviour of people even brought tears into Sania’s eyes at one point.
When Shoaib reached the Pearl-Continental Hotel with his bride from the Allama Iqbal Airport, a huge crowd was present there to get a glimpse of the newly-married couple, and severe mismanagement led to chaos at the hotel.
Both Shoaib and Sania had to make their way to an elevator through the hotel corridor jam packed with a cheering crowd.
As they passed through the crowd they faced severe pushing and shoving leading Sania to almost fall but Shoaib jumped into action by taking her into his arms.
This brought tears into Sania's eyes, who then placed her head on her mother's shoulder while walking towards the room as her mother consoled her.
Earlier, they reached Lahore on a PIA flight PK-391, which landed at the Allama Iqbal Airport. and were driven from a different route via Haj terminal on their way to the hotel.
