Taking art beyond

Horizons Art Gallery announces the opening of its next exhibition, a joint show featuring artists Janine
Laronde-Andrew and Emile Isaac. The exhibition opens at
37 Mucurapo Road, St James on May 11, from 7 - 8:30 p.m. and continues until May 22 (Mon-Fri 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., Sat 9 a.m. -
1 p.m.
Exhibiting since 2002, Laronde-Andrew has firmly established her place within the artistic community of Trinidad and Tobago. Her much sought after paintings speak for themselves in terms of appeal, talent and creative expression. 

With four successful solo exhibitions under her belt, Laronde-Andrew is embarking on her second joint exhibition at which she will unveil over 20 pieces from her new collection of watercolours and acrylics. 
Trinidad and Tobago’s diverse landscapes continue to provide inspiration for Laronde-Andrew, whose work features our rich fauna, flora and architectural gems. Never limiting herself to just her immediate environment for creative stimulus, Laronde-Andrew has also received critical acclaim for her work showcasing images, peoples and cultures from other countries. Janine’s tremendous versatility enables her to employ various media and styles in executing her craft. 
Abundant in talent, Janine is also very generous in spirit and continues to use her gift and marketability to help with many worthwhile causes.  These have included assisting the Shelter for Battered Women, a Cancer Benefit Regatta silent auction, Trinidad Hotels, Restaurants and Tourism Association fund raiser for Servol, among many other worthwhile projects.
Beyond the pursuit of her passion for painting, Janine is also exploring her entrepreneurial side having launched a line of merchandise portraying her paintings. Images from her 2010 collection have been captured in a new line of greeting cards and the second edition of her unique Perpetual Anniversary and Birthday Calendar-a must have for remembering important dates.
Janine is grateful for another year of achievement and for the unwavering support she receives from her husband and family.
Emile Isaac was born in 1982 and grew up in the small village of Patience Hill, in the island of Tobago. Emile became interested in the discipline of Visual Arts at the tiny age of six, where this talent later transcended throughout his life at secondary school, at Scarborough and Signal Hill. In 2002 he
obtained an A-Level certificate in Art and he is currently pursuing a degree at the University of the West Indies, St Augustine, Trinidad.
In 2003, months after to attaining his A-Level
certificate, Emile, equipped with five painting and little knowledge of his sister isle Trinidad, boarded the inter-island ferry, to try his luck at the country’s Art industry. Subsequently one of those works was sold, days prior to its initial gallery display. Years later, many of his paintings are being displayed in various galleries throughout the country.
Emile is quite a diverse artist, whose infatuation truly lies with the portraying of the Caribbean people. His interest in art extends from his fascination with their diversity, expressions, historical background, culture, clothing and unique dances. It is his notion that a painting should enlighten passion, flow, grace and movement making its audience mystified wanting more.
